Inghild Karlsen
Inghild Karlsen (b. 1952) is one of the most influential artists from Norway and has been active as an artist for over 40 years. She lives and works in Tromsø and Oslo. Karlsen’s artistic practice is wide-ranging, and she constantly explores new materials, places, and ideas. She works with various media, including installation, textile, sculpture, photography, performance and scenography.
Most of her work consists of installations. The space determines how the form takes shape and what the installation will consist of. Elements move in different dimensions and sometimes end up as sculptures or images owned by museums and cultural institutions.
Her art has been shown in Scandinavia, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the United States.
