I am a Multitude

June 19 – July 25, 2021
Festival Exhibition at the Arctic Arts Festival. Harstad, Norway

The series of dark brown dog sculptures, which make up Inghild Karlsen’s Red-eyed Dogs (1995), is spread around the exhibition space. With their confident posture, they seem like guards of the rest of the exhibition.
In this exhibition, the works challenge the distinction between body, mind, and environment. The works of all the artists also challenge the boundary between living and dead matter.
From the microscopic to the universal, I am a multitude shows us that the world does not unfold in a straight line. Instead, it unfolds in a multiplicity of – often complex, turbulent and contradictory – directions. It creates space for unexpected associations and brings together a group of artists in tune with today’s most urgent topics.
