LIAF 2015

August 27 – 29, 2015
North of Norway Art Centre (Nordnorsk Kunstcenter), Svolvær, Norway

“The Festival that Didn’t Want to Sink” was the featured festival exhibition at LIAF (Lofoten International Art Festival) in 2015. With a 25-year history, LIAF looks back on its journey through an exhibition and a new publication that trace the shift from the ‘Regional Festival for Visual Arts and Crafts’ to what is now the ‘Lofoten International Art Festival’.
The exhibition displays documentation and original works by artists from 13 art festivals held between 1991 and 2013. The selection reflects an eye for diversity and variation in materials, forms of expression, and media, serving as a tribute to the art festival’s early years, when words like range, span, and diversity were recurring themes in festival descriptions.
