The Exhibition at Gallery Standard in Oslo was based on Galleri Otto Plonk in Bergen in the mid-1990s. Gallery Otto Plonk had a significant position in the art scene at the time.
The approach of allowing Chinese model builders to reconstruct a selection of works that were shown at Otto Plonk based on documentation of different quality creates a fruitful distance from the original objects and situations. This distance, and details that are “lost in translation”, provide room to supplement, correct or even falsify the presentation.
The models are based on works by many renowned Norwegian artists, including Inghild Karlsen.
