Imago Mundi at Halden High School, Halden, Norway
Inspired by the surroundings around the school in Halden, Inghild Karlsen created Imago Mundi in collaboration with Bo Bisgaard. They printed a tree on the glass wall spanning two floors, along with cast and acrylic flying figures in intense colours.
“We wanted to use the surroundings around the school and create an organic environment inside the buildings,” artist Inghild Karlsen explains. She and her colleague Bo Bisgaard drew inspiration from the school grounds.
“Both trees and a ball court had to be removed when construction began, so you can imagine that we moved nature and the outdoor environment into the building, and I hope that the artworks inspire free associations. Perhaps it is the tree of knowledge, or maybe something else. It is up to everyone to wonder about it, the artist tells in an interview.”
‘This is perhaps the largest work of art created using this method in Europe,’ says the artist.
