Janus
2013
The Sculpture Park, Bærums Verk, Bærum, Norway
The sculpture park at Bærums Verk aims to bring together the best of the most renowned Norwegian sculptors of our time. New sculptures each year, combined with the permanent exhibition, showcase a wide range of beautiful and representative works of art.
Janus is made of white concrete. With its two-sided face, the sculpture relates to its surroundings yet remains autonomous and authentic, grounded in its simplicity and clear symbolism. Two-faced figures, such as Janus, symbolise the dualities of human nature. A beginning and an end, an action and a result, a destiny and a choice. It does not take sides with one or the other, but represents both the good and evil forces within humanity.
