Space Fantasies
Finished in 2010
Space Fantasies, Rosenborg School, Trondheim, Norway
The indoor decorations of Rosenborg School (Elementary and Secondary School) are part of the rebuilding of the school, which was completed in 2010. For artists Inghild Karlsen and Bo Bisgaard, it was important that the art was visible from outside, both from the street and from the courtyard.
The Space Fantasies decoration spreads across all three floors of the school. Overall, the artwork features a vertical axis, with photo-based paintings on the walls. These paintings float from the entrance and up through the staircase, along with luminous sculptures hanging on each floor. The paintings in the entrance have huge formats, up to almost nine meters (30 feet) wide.
With colour and motif choices, the artists hope to give an impression of lightness and optimism, whether viewed up close or from a distance.
The colour scheme is youthful, fresh, and “pop”.
They become luminous objects with a brightness that can be dimmed as needed. The colour is bright orange.
