Hamsun’s Fever

May 7 – 30, 2009
Theater and art project at Hålogaland Theatre, Tromsø, Norway

Hamsun’s Fever is a contemporary art project that combines theatre, architecture, visual arts, music and circus.
The red-eyed dog sculptures played a significant role in Inghild Karlsen’s set design for this performance. They included 60 black, red-eyed dogs as part of the scenography and performance, where one of the dogs became art, a reference to Hamsun’s poem in which love bursts forth.
Hamsun’s 1904 Poem depicts a man in disintegration. He has lost the one he loves and struggles with his own grief and lust for life.
Based on Hamsun’s work, director Jon Tombre has created a performance that combines various artistic expressions. The result is a different and visually theatrical experience.
