Our Inner Beast

The “Our Inner Beast” exhibition showcases Inghild Karlsen’s connection and dialogue between craft and pure aesthetics, with a special focus on her northern Norwegian cultural roots and contemporary art.
Inghild goes back to her signature material, felt. A technique she learned from her grandmother. Pressing wool with soap and warm water, Karlsen felts it, thus continuing the northern cultural tradition and drawing attention to nature. The work consists of 63 felt bodies, some more human in appearance and others more animalistic. The felt beasts hang alone, but also in kin with others in the room. You also get a feeling of walking in a mysterious forest with soft trees.
